Oxford Punch Needle

The sizes refer to the height of the loops, where the Regular and Fine refer to the yarn weight.

The Oxford #10 Fine works well with yarn ranging from 8ply to 12ply, where the Oxford #10 Regular works well with bulkier yarn, rug yarn and fabric strips. You can also double strand 8ply yarn to use the Regular needle.

#10 produces loops 1/4 inch (0.6cm)) in both the Fine and Regular.

The terms Fine and Regular refer to the width or gauge of the needle. The Fine is ideal for fine-mid weight yarn (8-10ply) whereas the Regular works with heavier yarns (12ply), bulky yarn, rug yarn or even fabric strips.

We recommend using your needle with monks cloth which is available in pre-cut squares or by the metre. For the Oxford Fine, a bamboo hoop can be used. For the Oxford Regular we recommend stretching the monks cloth over a canvas frame or using a non-slip hoop for best results.
